The Local Pathways Fellowship is a network/community of great minds young advocates who are championing sustainable development across the world utilising available human resources, human intelligence to reach to farthest local communities with their advocacy.
The Local Pathways Fellowship program will provide young champions with the right tools and support, a platform and a guiding framework for sustainable development actions. The Local Pathways Fellowship program connects fellows with leading urban development experts and practitioners and gives them the needed high support.
This local Pathways is designed to empower young advocates to champion and create local pathways for sustainable development across urban and local communities. The fellows will journey together in link minds throughout their fellowship durations at this period the fellows will explore necessary and important pathways to bring to the local environments the globally adopted goals and sustainability development targets. The fellows will exchange knowledge and ideas to create necessary pathways and work to engage local and urban stakeholders in a dialogue around strategies and plans their city needs to build a better future for its citizens.

The Mission of the local pathways fellowship
The mission of the Local Pathways Fellowship program is to empower creative and young advocates with support to mobilize citizens’ and work to support and actualization of the UN 2030 Agenda for SDG and also secure local commitment to prioritize implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The Local Pathways Fellowship program would provide young advocates with the means avenue to engage local and urban stakeholders in meaningful dialogues while at the same time engaging them in collaboration for sustainable development goals actualization.
The Local Pathways Fellowship program would equip young advocates with the tools and resources to go out and advance problem solving for sustainable development at the local and urban communities reaching people of all ages, men and women.
The Local Pathways Fellowship program shall engage in training of young advocates from urban communities on sustainability leadership and also encourage them with support and platforms to advocate for the SDG, going all way to educating them about the process of localizing the SDGs of the United Nations
The ways Local Pathways Fellowship program will be organised and conducted
The Local Pathways Fellowship program main arrangements are practical training programs that’s centred on education, sharing of knowledge, ideals, and collaboration workshops. The Local Pathways Fellowship program is designed to enable participating fellows to learn and understand the process of familiarising SDG to local and urban communities that they represent or can reach and to guide the participating fellows through the development of their localized projects.
Numerous programs and event activities and plannings are used to achieve the fellowship mission for SDG. They are as follows;
The Local Pathways Fellowship program would organise the sustainable cities online courses. These courses were carefully developed in a partnership between the SDG Academy and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS). This Local Pathways Fellowship program courses are developed to examine how the urban sustainability of the SDG can be better delivered.
In the Learning through the courses to deliver this sustainability of the SDG the focus points are as follows
The program will focus on Increasing productivity and reduced inequality
The program will also be focusing on provision of universal basic services and infrastructure
Also the program will focus on protection of the urban environments and lastly every other solutions and investments that may be suggested, all in action around the world. In this course program the participants will get to learn very important understanding of how governments, private stakeholders and other work in collaboration and how all can use their collaboration to improve urban and local communities development to actualise the SDG mission and vision
The Local Pathways Fellowship program would also organise monthly online webinars where invited experts would share their insights into various aspects of their industries and educate participants and their impact on the local and urban communities.
The fellowship shall also organise a series of monthly assignments and hands-on events. These assignments are to guide fellows through the development of projects that bring a solution to the challenges in their local and urban communities.
The first half of the Local Pathways Fellowship program is focused on localized research by the fellows. Then followed by the second half which would be centred on initiating ideas and the designing process of solutions.
The Local Pathways Fellowship would also organise a peer-to-peer network of young and creative advocates from urban and local communities and innovators from across the globe, this networking opportunity would be of immense benefit to the fellows actually their SDG advocacy mission.
Another area of the program is the visibility opportunities for the participating fellows. The top participants may be selected to also participate in international conferences and events such as the international conference on sustainable development programs, the Vatican youth symposium, and the World Urban Forum and several of other events and conferences
Participating fellows may also be recommended for awards such as the Local Project Challenge award by Center for Sustainable Urban Development at Columbia University and the Habitat’s Youth Advisory award. There are several other opportunities and benefits that participating fellows stands to gain in this fellowship program arrangements of events. The focus is social and community developments.
Eligibility Requirements to apply for the Local Pathways Fellowship program
