Why your job application hasn’t been successful.
If you have been applyijg for a job but has continued to get negative responses or no response at all. You may think it’s the economy or that they are no jobs and they are hundreds to thousands that have applied for the same job positions that you applied and because of that they were selected. That’s mostly wrong.
Sometimes, you could be the only applicants but because the recruiters could not find what they expect to see in your application documents they send negative responses or go cold. Sometimes you and others who applied were all not selected because recruiters again could not find what they are looking for in all the applications received.
The problem, reason for the negative responses or no response lies in how you applied for the job and the application documents. That’s where the secret of job success manifest. It’s therefore very important that you pay attention to application documents and the things I have pointed out below.
Note the following points
When you send your CV in your application, recruiters don’t read.
If you have a generic CV that everyone else have looking like every other documents, recruiters will most likely ignor to look at it
If there are no measurable results in your CV
If your application is not tailored
Your CV or cover letter do not show any proof that you can solve problems in the company
The points in Details.
When you send your CV in your application, recruiters don’t read.
Read this again to understand what I mean here. Of course the recruiters would download your CV or view your CV with file viewing app. But the amount of time recruiters used to scan your CV will make a difference. Was it in 5 seconds, 7 second or 10 seconds. These times will make difference in the selecting a candidate for an interview.
If a recruiter or hiring team scans your CV in less than 7 seconds, that CV is not attractive, and would automatically be rejected. The CV does not have something that draws attention to it. Recruiters or hiring teams would not spend unnecessary time going through it.
Not this point which is the major point here. Your CV may actually have valuable information to properly look at but due the structure of your CV the recruiters or the hiring team were not up to catch those information in a shap look thereby discarding the CV as worthless.
This is why you need to be extra careful with how you structure your CV. You must structure your CV so that the important information in it can attract attention and keep recruiters’ eyes on the CV for a few minutes.
This is the part that job seekers get wrong in the first place, because your CV is your gateway, it’s like a key to a door, your CV must give the first impression and attract the recruiters to look more into your full applications. The next time you are preparing to send an application for that your dream job, revisit your CV, redraft that your CV and make it very attractive enough to keep a recruiter’s eyes on it.
If you have a generic CV that everyone else have looking like every other documents, recruiters will most likely ignor to look at it
Another mistake that keeps job seekers away from getting their dream jobs is having a generic CV that looks like every other CVs. Have you imagined that a recruiter might thing he has checked your CV unknownly to him or her that he orshe has not checked it. But because he or she has seen multiple CVs that look exactly the same in structure.
Make your CV to standout from the crowd by having a unique structure, a different arrangement that makes the CV completely different. When it’s picked up or opened by the recruiters, they see that they have not opened before and they see that they are information worth checking in the CV.
Do you know that sometimes the beauty of your CV attracts the eyes of a recruiter even though the recruiter doesn’t believe they could be relevant information to check.
Final recommendation, make sure that they structure of your CV is unique, very different from other CVs. Your CV should never be generic, a typical CV recruiters see every time they advertise a position.
There are no measurable results in your CV
Another great obstacle that can be from your CV is that your CV does not contain any measurable results. You need to watch careful is your CV is empty or a pact of general information that ordinarily would be said during an interview like names, places worked and schools attended.
Your CV should include points that you have value to offer to the company or the business. The places you have worked in your CV, have you gained valuable experience enough to make an impact in another company or business? If yes, did you include such things in your? If No, you should include them immediately before you send out your CV again for job application. Make recruiters see your CV that it has measurable results.
Is your application tailored or not tailored.
This is the part that charges everything when you are sending multiple applications to multiple companies for multiple Jobs. Some job seekers make this big mistake of send one CV and one cover to multiple organisations for different job description. Your application will be rejected because it did not address the job specifications. Every job description are different in certain ways.
You must tailor your CV and cover letter to a specific job. Don’t send the same CV and cover letter that you sent for a job in the morning to another job in the afternoon. Every time you want to apply for a job, put in the work. Don’t be lazy. First, read the job description, pick very important points, then go back to your CV edit your professional summary section of your CV to match with what the job description wants. Check other areas of your CV and make some minor but important editing to properly align with the that particular job.
Your cover letter is also a very important document in your application. Therefore treat it very nicely. Don’t send same cover letter to multiple jobs, always write a fresh cover letter for every job. The information you put in your cover letter is to convince the recruiter that you are the perfect fit for the role.
Another important thing you must take care of when writing your CV is that, you must always be straight to points, do not make your cover letter too lengthy. A shorter, but weighty cover letter will be read by the recruiters in seconds but if your cover letter is lengthy the recruiters may not have the time to read it, thereby discarding your application.
Your CV or cover letter do not show any proof that you can solve problems in the company
Your two important job application documents, your CV and your cover letter must not be lacking in any part. Take this seriously if you want to stand a very good chance the next time you apply for a job. Some job seekers manage to have a great CV but very weak cover letter or a well written cover letter but disorganised CV.
To get it right, try to optimize both your CV and your cover letter to be standard application documents. The way you treat your CV is the way you should treat your cover letter. Some job seekers try to differentiate and rank one of these documents higher, unknown to them that these documents are equal and should be treated equally.
To emphasise on this particular area because this is where most job seekers get it wrong. They assume sometimes that a cover letter is not important and sometimes some job seekers don’t include cover letters in their job application. They just forward their CV in the email with anything to back it up. This behaviour delays your job success.
Always include your well written cover letters for every job unless expressly stated by the recruiters that applicants should not include cover letters. Another very tiny point to note is that, you must always make sure that your contact Information like your email correctly spelt. Always cross check this particular information over and over again to make sure that the email is correct and relieves incoming mails.
Summary
There are jobs, don’t say there are no jobs, if there are no jobs, the economy would be halted. Provided that the economy is moving and companies open and work is going on, there are jobs. The challenge in getting that your dream job lies in your application method.
The way you apply for jobs differentiates you from others who go to the job. Those that do the jobs are the candidates who know how to position themselves and are prepared for the job. Prepare for a job application by continuing to write your cover letter for each job, and edit your CV to match each job.
Prepare yourself for an interview, research the company culture, the mission and the goal of the company you want to apply to work in. Research and know some of their senior staff. Prepare yourself to tailor your interview answers towards the mission and the goals of the company.
When you put in the effort in your job application, definitely your application will be approved for that dream job you have been praying for.
When you are invited for an interview, do not sound desperate. Maintain a very calm posture and cheerful looks. Smile but not too frequently, if the interview puts in a joke, play along, laugh a very little and return to your cheerful looks and calm posture.
Be prepared to ask questions even though you think there may be no question. Allow yourself to be corporative in the interview. You can send a follow-up email after the interview. Many job seekers do this and many times it works for them. Sending a follow up email to thank the recruiters and express satisfaction for the interview can go a long way to push your candidacy for the job very high.
